"Bold As Love" is a work of art inspired by the song of the same name, written and performed by Jimi Hendrix.
It is said that "Because of Hendrix' inability to read music, he would often describe emotions (and music) in colors rather than more descriptive words. Jimi was a very emotional and colorful person, and in this song, he really brought out his emotions in a wild imagery that describes Hendrix' inability to express his feelings...in any conventional way. Instead, Hendrix used colors to describe his feelings of fright, uncertainty and frustration."
Hendrix biographer Harry Shapiro describes the theme of "Bold As Love" as being "an Olympian battle of passions whose strategy is mapped out...self-evidently in colors."
When I listen to this song, not only do I see the array of emotions represented by color, but they arrange themselves in my mind as a game of chess where each piece represents the emotions that both help and hinder us in the Game of Love.
