This work was created with the intent and focus to educate on the subject matter presented. It is depicted to visually tell the Biblical story of Lot's wife in the book of Genesis. As a child, this story always used to frighten me hearing the tale of how Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt after looking back, seeing Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed. It is created to catch the facial expression of her forever locked in time and the history books of man as she is crystalized. The work itself is mixed media with salt being one of the main mediums of the piece. Collage and fabric have also been added to create a 3d sense of existence, as if she were looking back at you from the picture frame. Upon closer examination, you can see a map of the Middle East in the face and the proposed location of where Sodom and Gomorrah were believed to be located along with mountains, medieval depictions, and other visual mysteries within the work.
