Information

I was inspired to create this piece after learning of the show's theme "Unreal Surreal". I heavily referenced the famous painting "The Son of Man" by the Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. I wanted to add to the piece and make it my own by incorporating elements of my Cuban culture and love for mangos. I illustrated each domino only to have twos representing my American and Cuban backgrounds.

Sandra Hernandez is an illustrator and graphic designer from Miami, FL. She attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, and graduated with a BFA in Illustration. Sandra enjoys making art for all ages where young and old can come together and appreciate the lighthearted innocence of life and love. Sandra currently works with independent authors on picture books.
