I remember as a young boy the older folks in my family talking about the WW2, and in particular, the family members that went to serve but did not return home. One in particular was a brother of my Maternal Grandmother. He was her youngest brother, and he wrote her often about the horrors of the war, but also the meaningful friendships he was making with his battle companions. Those stories inspired this hand cut collage, using vintage sheet music, specialty papers, vintage magazine photos and gel medium. They call this generation, the "greatest" generation. I would agree. Both the men and women of this moment in time, defined a commitment to serve their country in a way we haven't seen since.
