Ecstasy of Gold is an original mixed media artwork with golden yellow faux leather draped over a 36" x 36" x 1.5" gallery wrapped canvas. The hanging portion of the piece adds an additional 12" to its height, making it 36" x 48" in total.
I chose this golden yellow fabric as it is my favorite accent color for the dark greens, purples, and pinks in my home's decor. I complemented the rich golden yellow leather with a shimmering metallic gold paint, creating a striking resplendence.
The name, Ecstasy of Gold, was inspired by one of my favorite songs from the famous composer, Ennio Morricone, specifically the version performed by world-renowned cellist, Yo-Yo Ma. You can listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBelSZAx4ro
