I first had the idea to do this painting when I found and purchased the Mexican decanter. I envisioned a tall, thin canvas depicting this unusual ceramic piece, with warm colors of reds and yellows. As I developed the idea, the inspiration to add stenciled lettering and numbers was included.
Originally, as I was painting it, the lettering was placed vertically down the left side. It didn't work. I then switched to the sideways lettering, and it looked much better. Then the bottom of the canvas seemed empty, so I got the idea to add a date, and "75" was born. Once all of the elements were in place, the painting came to life. I hope you enjoy it.
