Artist Statement

When we create our illustrated and photographic worlds we connect with our deepest feelings and we get abstracted, submerse in our own thoughts and essence.

This individual process has evolved and something that we learned is that joining forces and co-create with other artists, looking to enhancing the results and enjoying the process along the way helps the art itself to potentiate it. We practice this everyday when we create mash-ups and new pieces by creating characters and illustrate environments on photographs, proposing different visual universes, and doing it all the way around by getting inspired by the illustrations and adapting the photographs to be merged into them.

When it comes to pursue our dreams, we support the conviction and statement of never giving up. Being an artist is not easy sometimes, but a lot of doors can be opened with perseverance.

Learning something new everyday is one of the most humbling acts to us, and that is later reflected in each of our works. Resilience and the love for what we do are our sanctuary. Sharing our creativity with the curious look of others beautifies each of our days.

YAS GAYA:

She was born in Brazil in the 80´s.

A few years later she and her family moved to Argentina. Learning a new language and adapting to a new cultural and social environment expanded her mind, made her stronger and more versatile too.

Her passion for creativity has always helped her to push her own limits and empower her artistic skills.

In 2009 she graduated as an Interior Architect and Designer and this was her main profession since then.
Based on her clients requests and the industry demands she made complementary workshops and courses besides her main studies such as: Interior Design, Landscaping, Scenography, Muralist, among others. She co-owned her Studio in partnership with an architect between 2007 - 2017.

From 2013 to 2016 she studied and graduated from her 2nd main career: Illustration.
As an integrated visual artist she loves to combine analog and digital techniques in her work adding in some cases photography, creating unique pieces of art that she calls mash-ups. She's continuously growing her skills in: drawing, painting, muralist, tattoo, image manipulation, scenography, calligraphy and also, she loves writing. She has made many illustrations for music albums, artworks for songs and musicians, books, online platforms, NFT marketplaces, etc.

For 2 consecutive years she was invited to participate at the prestigious Latin American Design Week at the University of Palermo in Buenos Aires, and she has presented her work in several exhibitions in South America, Europe and the US. She also shares her experience through tutorials in her Social Media and art workshops for children and adults.

She considers herself a surreal artist and she is passionated for organic lines and micro-details.

Because she loves reinventing herself she started yasuli.art in 2018 along Ulises Cabrera da Silva (Argentinian photographer and visual artist) where they are creating unique artworks mashing-up their 2 very different styles.

In 2018 Yas and Ulises created YasUli Art, an artistic venture where we mash-up and re-mix both their skills, talent, and art.

They're based in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
