Soul Keeper
The first tile created from a series of 6 for Dia de los Muertos. The first layer on ply-board was an old abstract landscape acrylic painting which had been sitting around the studio for 2 years. I used it to experiment with colored fiberglass resin dripping it like a Jackson Pollock style painting. The result of that experiment was the catalyst to the "tile" style work I do today. Soul Keeper is the first original tile produced. The black grout boarder with the eyes, the river rocks and another layer was added later to complete the work. The total number of layers is five.
MEDIUMS: Fiberglass resin, acrylic paint, clear epoxy, grout, river rocks
