Watching a night blooming cereus cactus flower bloom is magic. Imagine a calm, humid summer night, a huge cactus full of blooms, a dark side street, a tripod on several step ladders, a photographer clothed head to toe in long pants and sleeves standing on a 12-foot ladder, lots of mosquitos, and you don't have to wonder why a curious deputy sheriff pulled off the see what in the world was going on at midnight. One of my favorite photographs with a memorable story too.
