If you've never been to Deep Hole at Myakka River State Park, put it on the top of a list of things to see. It's a sinkhole off the main river where scores of alligators hang out when the water temperature drops during the winter. The gators float like logs in the sinkhole or bunch up along the shoreline to soak up the sun. Spook them on the shore and they'll scurry to the water in mass exodus like extras in a Tarzan movie. Bring a friend who runs slower than you and at least one of you will make it back home in one piece. Framed with salvaged deck boards.
