This is not a photo or drawing but rather a scratchboard piece. This is a very difficult and unforgiving art medium. The panel is made of a multi-fiber 1/8" board, coated with a layer of special white clay, and a top coat of black ink. I used a scalpel to scratch off the ink in hundreds of small lines in multiple patterns to create the image. This is one of my first music icon pieces of work that I did in scratchboard. It's always been a part of my home, usually hanging over my guitar collection in the music room. I decided to part with it and see it go to another Hendrix fan. I love this piece and it will be hard see it go.
