Information

My series of paintings entitled "Flammable Florida" serve as a commentary on the delicate balance between nature's beauty and the looming threat of global warming. In the fashion of magic realism, plants protest in a fiery manner, and Florida's wild beauty serves as the perfect backdrop.

In "Flash Point" (acrylic on canvas), Florida's natural splendor is under attack, her beauty threatened by climate change.
In a seemingly tranquil setting, palm trees sway in the breeze and the bayou glistens in the background. But turmoil lurks beneath the surface - shadows creep across the foreground, dark clouds gather overhead. The threat to paradise is not always visible, the encroachment of civilization is often subtle.

The hibiscus erupts in protest, echoing the voices of countless species fighting for survival in an ever-changing world. The flower is vibrant, dominating the view. "Pay attention, people" seems to be the message. The contrast in scale in this painting, wherein the tiny flower is so prominent it towers over the vast landscape, adds a sense of urgency to the message. The flower's habitat is under attack and a call to action is needed.
