I remember being a kid lying down in the two seater hatchback of my dad's silver 280z (because it was the 80's and who cared about safety?). I'd be staring up at the clear blue sky, trees quickly streaming past, the t-tops open, windows down and oldies on the radio: Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs' "Little Red Riding Hood" blasting on the radio while my dad sang along; banging his hands on the steering wheel, keeping the beat.
"Lil' Red" is my ode to those early New England springs, riding in the back of that little sports car... my entire life ahead of me: pure joy... everything and anything was possible.
"Lil' Red" is one of four paintings in my "Wild Side" series in which I paired female characters, representational of some of my own life stories, with their creature counterparts. I have always had a deep love and connection with animals, often relating to them far more easily than I could with my fellow human. My intention with this series was to inspire the viewer to always live their true, untamed versions of themselves. Live life unfiltered.
