Information

This mixed media collage is inspired by Italian painter, Botticelli and Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo.
Venus has just arrived to the shore after her birth emerging from the sea full grown. She is greeted by two suns, each painted by Frida Kahlo representing life and home. She is surrounded by a variety of guitars with acoustic ones in the sea as masses of land and an electric guitar butterfly emerging with it's new wings. The scattered butterflies and flowers represent peace and hope on Muse Beach.
I start with painting a background on stretched canvas, I add texture with various printmaking techniques. I add the collage elements and finish with stamped textures and hand drawn details.
