Information

I tried to capture the feeling of a warm, velvety, blue night with this piece, with special emphasis on the cloak. I use a base layers of acrylics and then cover the entire canvas with an oil wash. After that dries, I begin adding the thicker layers of oil color. After the initial color layers dry, I add a final glaze to give it more depth and richness, all the while making textural marks with various instruments, including brushes, toothpicks and fine-tooth combs.
