This handsome fella just fluffed his hair in preparation for an afternoon stroll amongst the ladies. Both male and female flamingos perform synchronized dance moves to attract a mate, similar to a flash mob. The moves include head-flagging, wing salutes, twisting, preening, bowing, and marching.
The word "flamingo" comes from the Spanish word flamenco, which means "fire", referring to the bright color of their feathers. Flamingos get their pink color from pigment in their food, including aquatic invertebrates like shrimp.
I take joy in knowing that my work and who I am reaches out and touches others. I'm greatly inspired by color, especially bright and dramatic colors. Colors don't merely talk to me, they SHOUT. I believe that art has its own special language. It can cut right to a basic human emotion, hold on tight and even cause one to react in some way. So, when a piece of art speaks to you, Listen!
