Visiting San Miguel de Allende, Mexico during the Dia de los Muertos celebrations is such an amazing experience. Days of parades, constructing alters, celebrations, music, special foods all commemorate the holiday and memorialize the ones that have passed on. People dressed in costume gather in the main square close to the central cathedral, and in the cemeteries sharing food, drink and stories and these gatherings can go on all night, some turning into pretty wild parties. On the last night, I came across a man dressed as Michael Myers, from the movie Halloween, a young woman dressed traditionally as a Dia de los Muertos Catrina and a young mother, creating such an interesting and curious scene.
