This doll was my grandmothers when she was a child. I have vivid memories of playing with it as a little girl visiting their home. The doll was probably two and a half feet tall and at the time felt every bit as big as I was. Years later my grandfather and I brought the her out of storage with the purpose of taking portraits of him with the doll, ironically it was also the weekend my grandmother passed away. Sometime during the years the doll was damaged and the head was separated from the body. The doll has since been completely destroyed and the only photos I have left of it are this one and a portrait of my grandfather holding the doll, doll body on one knee and the head of the doll on the other knee.
This is an emulsion transfer process onto antique Arches watercolor paper that belonged to the same grandparents mentioned above.
