Jupiter's moon Elara was discovered in 1905 by Charles Dillon Perrine. An irregular satellite with constantly changing orbital elements, Elara belongs to the Himalia group, a group of five moons orbiting between 11 and 13 million kilometers from Jupiter. My sculpture Elara reflects this irregular orbit curving around and through the piece. The original, I carved from Colorado Alabaster.
