Information

Nautiluses are the only living cephalopods whose bony structure is externalized as a shell. Their shells divide into chambers internally, which allows them to create and control buoyancy by means of a gas exchange. The cross-section of a nautilus shell presents one of the finest and most direct examples of a logarithmic spiral that can be found in nature.
