Information

To create this vivid midday scene at Fort DeSoto Beach I started with a burnt sienna underpainting to establish the drawing and values. Next came the color layers, about five total, added gradually to smooth any brushstrokes and soften the sky, bay, clouds, and sand. Each blade of dune grass was painted using a small round brush followed by the shadows underneath. Framed in a custom canvas floater frame.
