Landscape photography is one of my favorite past times. I often go to county and state parks in the area to walk around and see what I can capture. This picture was taken at Circle Bar B Reserve in Lakeland, Florida which as miles of trails to walk thru beautiful landscapes. Its also a bird watchers paradise as there are many different species of birds here. While walking the trails, I came across this swampy area that had this amazing lighting from the sun filtering through the clouds. When I was framing this photo in my camera's viewfinder, I realized that this was going to be a photo that shows the quintessential landscape in Florida. The Spanish moss almost totally encompassing the cypress trees is a staple sight in Florida. The camera used was a Bronica EC-TL II. It is a 6x6 (1:1 ratio) medium format film camera that had a 75mm f/2.8 lens mounted. Film stock used was Kodak Portra 800 shot at 400 ISO (1 stop underexposed). Kodak Portra 800 is a unique film that it has very wide exposure latitude and when pushed or pulled during exposure and developed at box speed, you get different tones of colors and shadow detail which makes this film stock a very useful creative medium.
